HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?
There are many ways to be involved and to protect our precious Watersheds. First and foremost is to join WASS or make a donation to underwrite our expenses e.g. chemicals for testing the streams’ health and viability. There are individual, family and corporate memberships available. To join, click the JOIN button on the left, or to make a tax deductible donation click on the DONATE button on the left.
IMMEDIATE NEED: Dick Farmer needs volunteers now who are willing to "get their hands wet in the streams" to check the health of the water and keep them free of debris. Anyone from 12 years of age and above is welcome. We have the supplies but need the human power. Interested? Just go to our "Contact Us" page and fill out the form. Mention in the comments box what you want to do.
OTHER WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:
Report environmental disaster. The DNR emergency number to report fish kills is 1-800-241-4113 it is the 24 hr. emergency number.
Carry a camera in your vehicle (or use your cell phone camera) and if you see something that you think is a violation such as improper silt fences or sewer spills:
Take a photo to document the problem you see
Call the Sandy Springs call center 770-730-5600. Give them the information letting them know you have a photo. (If your camera dates the photos, that is ideal!)
A common violation is landscapers or homeowners blowing leaves or debris into storm drains. If you see someone doing this, forms and information documents are availble.
Click here for documents and forms.
Adopt a section of the creek with an organization you represent - Scouts, your neighborhood, civic organization, your business.
Water Test Program - be trained to run biological tests of your local stream. We will arrange for you to be trained and Certified.
